This rice recipe will not make you any skinnier BUT is a delicious crowd (and child) pleaser! It is super fast to throw together on a weeknight, and a great side to any protein.  My kids would eat the whole bowl of it if I let them!

What you do: (corresponding pictures in slides below)

  1. In the pot, cook the white rice in salted water according to the instructions (for my family I use 2-3 bags = 4-6 cups cooked)
  2. While the rice is cooking, crush the fines herbes in the mortar and pestle
  3. Chop the shallots into very small pieces
  4. Once cooked, pour the rice into the serving bowl
  5. Add 2-3 Tbsp of butter on top to melt
  6. Return the pot to the heat and add 2 Tbsp of butter, once melted add the shallots
  7. Saute the shallots in the butter until translucent, about 1-2 minutes
  8. Pour the shallots in butter over the rice
  9. Pour the crushed fines herbes over the rice
  10. Sprinkle the onion powder over the rice
  11. Mix it all together and taste to see if you need more salt
  12. Seve and enjoy!

    La cuisine

I love to cook. My kitchen is one of my happy places because I get to be creative there. Although I own many cookbooks, I most often throw meals together based on what I have on hand - so it is rare that I make a meal the same way every single time. I may follow a recipe initially, but tend to use them more as guideline and do my own thing. Most of what I make is based on classic home cooked meals that I had while living in France, and my love of market fresh produce. Although we are able to buy many items year round, I base meals on what is currently in season. My philosophy on food is to keep it fresh, colorful, and flavorful. I will be sharing various recipes that my family and I love on this page. In the meantime check out my Instagram stories for regular food posts!
Disclaimer: I do not always give exact measurements in my recipes because frankly, I don't always measure! I cook "au pif" as the french say, or "by the nose".
